    Hey there,

I just updated my resume and made a new resume overview in the style of your typical description on the back of game packages.

I’ll update the projects page soon, got a few new projects to upload.

    cheers,
    John

During the Weekend I only slept 5 hours, had more fun than I had in ages and drank too much jolt.
The cause and result of this is The Monkey Space: Deception Edition!

It was created by 3 Coders, 3 Artists and 1 Game Designer / Project Manager, who proved to be the awesomest team ever.
We laughed hard, almost all the time, If the game that came out of this is only half as much fun as we had making it, it will be the game of the century!

you can download the game and test it on the site http://www.themonkeyspace.de .
There’s even a release with source and it’s all for free!
Even though we had only 48hours, we did voice acting, intro video, cutscenes, awesome glow, and 2 levels!
Creating this has made me remember what game development is all about and why I enjoy it so much.

Anyway, we thought the result was so excellent we decided to keep working on it, so we’ll hopefully meet on Saturday and plan that.
So check back for updates! :)

This is not a game. It has no features or story and is in general quite boring.
You might just as well skip this entirely.

    There is no game.

There is just The Monkey Space!

And humans can’t survive in monkey space.
Deception is the key. Find the donkey and it will set you free.

    Foto-0295Hi there,

Just using Flock on my new MBP to post a blog entry, which is really comfortable. Something I cannot say about my current location.
Yesterday We (me and my Integrated Product Development team) came to Lille to present our project to decathlon. All it took was a 8 hour-drive.
I can’t bore you with the details of the project, even if I wanted to, but our ‘clients’ seemed really happy about the end result we presented. Who knows, it might even hit the market in three years. ;)

Foto-0290As I said the hotel we’re staying in is not that nice, at least the beds weren’t too short, but the walls have mold, yuk! I hope I haven’t got infected by the evil mold spores. And, as I was the first to get up, the water in the shower was ice-cold and decided to stay that way until I was done. Nothing to get you awake like an ice-cold shower.

Everyone else is still asleep, but they returned just about an hour ago. I turned in early ’cause I would have fallen asleep on the street, had I stayed and partyed with them. I also don’t like alcohol very much, i.e. not at all.
So I had a decent nights sleep, can’t say for the others yet. I just hope the car will not reek of the alcohol fumes too much.

Let’s see what passes for Breakfast around here. ;)

    cheers,
    John

P.S.: The Food yesterday evening was most excellent, by the way. I even got Menthé Verte. (peppermint syrup, tastes a bit like toothpaste, I love it!)

Here’s a little video of a Prototype we did for our User Interface Engineering class.
It’s a little game, which is supposed to take the fear of using a Multitouch table and teach the basic Interactions.
We had two other games as well, teaching more advanced interactions.
We used XNA in combination with the TUIO lib (C# integration)

    Bubbles – movie

p.s. still have to get the Release mode running on the CubeWorld prototype… I’ll keep you posted.

    CubeWorld-Crytek
The past few days I spent some time with my friends C++ and DirectX, I haven’t seen them in the same place in a while, so it was quite an Adventure.

Here’s a little preview of what I’M working on, I’ll post the source and executable later today.

    Hi there,

Here’s a little Prototype for the User Interface Engineering course I’m currently attending.
Our project consists of creating games which should help the user to get used to interacting with a multitouch tabletop interface.
This particular prototype should taje the fear of touching the tabletop and teaching simple interactions such as single touch and touch and hold.

You can test the prototype with your mouse:
Left click: let a bubble explode,
right click (hold): blow up a bubble (but don’t let it get to big ;) )

    Download [.7z]
The Prototype was programmed in four hours using XNA.

If something should not work or you find any bugs, please let me know!

    greets,
    John

    Hi there!
I just added the FlowPlay 2D Prototype to the Projects Page.
Be sure to check it out. We’re currently working on the 3D Version.

Also I fixed a minor thing in the Sphere Editor, the current version is now available for download.

Now back to work on FlowPlay and Tankdogs. (shaders and collision detection)
    greets,
    John

The projects pages was updated with a few new things.
including the MDI 3D sphere editor i made for a test task. (source and binary available for download)

More projects should follow during the semester.

I’m  currently working on fluid dynamics visualization and tabletop user interfaces, both in combination with game development.

    Hi there,

I updated my English resume [PDF] and thought someone might be interested.

If you know anyone who might need a highly motivated and skilled Computer Visualistics student at their Game Development Studio, do send it on or tell me in the comments.

Also working on Tankdogs the past week was really great, there might even be an alpha version at the end of the Month! The student team I’m developing this with is really working out great.

    cheers,

    John
